From Listening to Livelihoods सुनने से आजीविका तक
NISA works with women in low-income neighbourhoods of Jodhpur, moving them step by step from learning to earning through a community-rooted model. नीसा जोधपुर के कम आय वाले मोहल्लों की महिलाओं के साथ काम करता है और समुदाय से जुड़ी एक मॉडल के ज़रिए उन्हें चरणबद्ध तरीक़े से सीखने से कमाने तक ले जाता है।
We began our work by asking a single question: “What do you dream of?” We spoke with around 300 women across low-income neighbourhoods in Jodhpur. Their responses showed clear patterns:

हमने अपना काम एक सरल सवाल से शुरू किया: “आपका सपना क्या है?”
हमने जोधपुर के कम आय वाले इलाक़ों में लगभग 300 महिलाओं से बात की। उनके जवाबों में कुछ साफ़ पैटर्न दिखे:

Project Atmanirbhar began not as a curriculum but as a collective aspiration. Women wanted skills that could translate into income, support in moments of crisis and a space where they could think about their own future.
Today, our centre acts as both a training space and a safe space. We currently run sewing and crochet batches and are gradually adding embroidery and cosmetology based on women’s expressed demand. Several learners who once came during moments of breakdown now speak with more confidence and support others as informal mentors.
प्रोजेक्ट आत्मनिर्भर की शुरुआत किसी पाठ्यक्रम के रूप में नहीं, बल्कि एक साझा आकांक्षा के रूप में हुई। महिलाएँ ऐसे कौशल चाहती थीं जिन्हें आय में बदला जा सके, संकट के समय सहारा मिले और ऐसा स्थान हो जहाँ वे अपने भविष्य के बारे में सोच सकें।
आज हमारा केंद्र प्रशिक्षण स्थल के साथ-साथ एक सुरक्षित जगह भी है। यहाँ फिलहाल सिलाई और क्रोशे के बैच चलते हैं और महिलाओं की मांग के आधार पर धीरे-धीरे कढ़ाई और ब्यूटी कौशल भी जोड़े जा रहे हैं। कई ऐसी महिलाएँ जो पहले टूटन के समय हमारे पास आई थीं, अब ज़्यादा आत्मविश्वास के साथ बोलती हैं और दूसरों के लिए अनौपचारिक मार्गदर्शक बन गई हैं।
Many organisations offer skill training. Very few build a bridge between training and income. NISA’s model is designed to move a woman from learning to earning through three interconnected stages.
बहुत सी संस्थाएँ कौशल प्रशिक्षण देती हैं, लेकिन प्रशिक्षण से आय तक का पुल बहुत कम बनता है। नीसा का मॉडल एक महिला को सीखने से कमाने तक लाने के लिए तीन जुड़े हुए चरणों में काम करता है।
We teach sewing, crochet, embroidery, literacy and soon cosmetology. This stage builds basic capability, rhythm and confidence.
इस चरण में हम सिलाई, क्रोशे, कढ़ाई, साक्षरता और जल्द ही ब्यूटी से जुड़े कौशल सिखाते हैं। यह चरण बुनियादी क्षमता, लय और आत्मविश्वास बनाता है।
Women are trained in finishing, consistency, measurement accuracy, speed, quality and simple production systems. Practice assignments are supervised so that their work is ready for real orders.
इस चरण में महिलाएँ फिनिशिंग, निरंतरता, नाप की सटीकता, गति, गुणवत्ता और सरल उत्पादन सिस्टम सीखती हैं। अभ्यास कार्य निगरानी में होता है ताकि उनका काम वास्तविक ऑर्डर के लिए तैयार हो सके।
We connect women to real orders through our partner networks and help them create home-based income models and women-led micro units. This builds local capacity that can be replicated in new communities.
हम अपने पार्टनर नेटवर्क के माध्यम से महिलाओं को वास्तविक ऑर्डर से जोड़ते हैं और उन्हें घर-आधारित आय मॉडल व महिलाओं द्वारा संचालित माइक्रो-यूनिट्स बनाने में मदद करते हैं। इससे स्थानीय क्षमता बनती है जिसे आगे अन्य समुदायों में दोहराया जा सकता है।
